It shouldn't take TWO DAYS to restore the forum?...restoring a database takes just a few minutes...

Yeah, I suppose they have to find the back-up tape for the right server, restore that first, but that is a 2 hour job max. The forum still seems f**ked, anyone know the current situation please enlighten us. |

Sorry for the conitnued dely.
The back-up is restored and is perfect. Now a new problem has arisen according to the hosts software we are using 446mb of space whilst we are allowed 50mb, and because of this i think the software wont allow us to run any scripts (e.g. the forum). We are not using 446mb and i have emailed
the hosts to look into this, but they always taKe about 8 hours to reply. I have already threatned not to pay the $100

never mind 2 hours for a restoration, they take 24 hours to respond to a simple question, i am f**king pissed, but i wont take it out on them until theyve actually fixed it.

I say just make a brand new board. On a different host, and with phpBB. You'll be able to make your own backups of the board any time.

so we are deleting ALL topics to get a UBB temp forum up and as time passes, we're switching hosts

A new host sounds like a good idea, these guys sound like f**king jokers. Maybe we should go the whole hog with maybe new forum software and even a new logo ... ?

That's what I'm proposing, get phpBB, currently the best freeware forum, very much like vBulletin but totally free  and is being developed all the time. |
